Yomi Black and Ex-Wife Elizabeth John Mark ‘Ex Anniversary’ 13 Years After Split
Nigerian actor and filmmaker Yomi Black, born Abayomi Aderibigbe, and his former wife Elizabeth John surprised fans this week by publicly acknowledging what would have been their 13th wedding anniversary—referring to it playfully as their “ex anniversary.”
The former couple, who tied the knot in April 2012 and welcomed a son in July 2015, first met on the set of The Intern, Nigeria’s pioneering business reality TV show.
Their relationship blossomed from that early connection but ended in separation by 2021, when Elizabeth publicly declared herself “finally a free woman.”
Despite the split, Yomi and Elizabeth have seemingly remained on good terms. Taking to his Instagram Story, Yomi reflected on the milestone with humor and grace.
“13 years ago! We broke up but still remain cordial. Happy ex anniversary…lol,” he wrote.
Elizabeth responded on her own Instagram page, revealing her surprise at the concept.

“Happy ex anniversary, Yomiblack,” she wrote. “I didn’t know this was a thing till you called to wish it to me and saw you posted it. God bless you and all your endeavours.”
The exchange offered a rare glimpse into a post-divorce relationship marked by mutual respect and goodwill—an approach not often seen in the public eye.
Yomi Black began his career as a radio presenter with Rhythm 93.7 FM Lagos before expanding into film, photography, advertising, and comedy. By 2009, he had gained recognition as a leading celebrity photographer. In 2017, his comedy short Sunday and Lolade became the first Nigerian comedy skit to receive a theatrical release.
Elizabeth John, meanwhile, has made a name for herself across multiple creative fields. She is an entrepreneur, visual artist, fashion designer, and interior decorator.
Their light-hearted yet respectful celebration of what might have been their anniversary has resonated with many fans, offering a refreshing take on how former partners can navigate life after marriage—with kindness, humor, and a shared history.
