Meet Seyi Tinubu, the Young Billionaire Son of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu
At the mention of Seyi Tinubu, the first thing that comes to mind is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, one of Nigeria’s most powerful politicians. Seyi may have been born into wealth; he did not rely on the family’s riches. Instead, he created his own wealth pipeline.
He has built an empire in the advertising sub-sector by leaning on his father’s business advice. Seyi Tinubu owns Loatsad Promomedia Ltd, a multi-national outdoor advertising company based in Lagos.
A peek into the early years of Seyi Tinubu
The Nigerian-born America-bred serial entrepreneur is the first of four children of Bola Tinubu, the APC Presidential candidate in the 2023 election in Nigeria. Seyi grew up in the US and had all his formative and tertiary education there.
While in secondary school, he actively participated in rugby, athletics, and field hockey. Due to his athletic prowess, he became the captain in one of the seasons.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Lincoln University in 2008 and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Buckingham in 2010. He also has a master’s degree in corporate and commercial law from the same university.
The making
The norm for rich kids is to gradually take the rein of their parents’ business empire immediately after school. Seyi Tinubu, on the other hand, took the opposite path.
“When I finished my Master’s, my dad called me to his place in Abuja. He asked me what I wanted to do next or where I wanted to work.
I said to him that I didn’t want his money but that all I want is his moral support. If I take his money and don’t grow it, he will not be happy with me.”
All Seyi wanted at this stage was to own his own business. He knew financial assistance from his father had limits, but wise counsel would be unlimited. He knew he could make more money acting on his father’s business advice than taking money from the man.

Choosing the entrepreneurial path
With this decision, Seyi Tinubu went on to look for the best business to venture into. Though he studied law, he had a flair for advertising. Seyi and his friend, Adenrele Olusoga, discovered their passion for the trade.
“We went through various opportunities and looked at those failed experiences, after which we discovered we were passionate about creating something that would be innovative and unique.
We discovered our flair for advertising, particularly in the digital space. Hence, we decided to float Loatsad Promomedia to operate in the advertising industry’s digital and out-of-home sub-sector,” Seyi said.
Combining his capital with his wife’s, Layla Holm and Co-founder, Adenrele Olusoga, he founded Loatsad Promomedia limited.
Loatsad Promomedia
The business idea was borne out of the desire to start a business that would be both innovative and unique. Seyi believed there was a market for them as the industry is moving from the conventional way of advertising toward digital. With digital, he wanted to disrupt the advertising space in Nigeria.
Loatsad Promomedia is an advertisement company that provides both outdoor and digital advertising services nationally and internationally. Since its inception, the company has handled thousands of advertisements worth billions of naira.
In 2019, Loatsad acquired E-Motion Advertising, an advertising company founded by Sim Shagaya. With this milestone, he was made the Ecowas Youth Ambassador for Entrepreneurship and youth development the same year.
The preceding year, he was inducted into the Institute of public resources management and politics in Ghana.
