Ademola Adeleke made another history in the southwestern part of Nigeria as he emerged as the winner of the just concluded Osun State governorship election. This marks the beginning of the reign of another Adeleke family in the state, five years after the death of his elder brother, Isiaka Adeleke.
He won the election by a margin of 28,344 votes. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he had 403,371 votes, while the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola, had 375,027 votes.
He won the election in 17 local government areas such as Olorunda, Ede South, Orolu, Osogbo, Odo Otin, Ifelodun, Atakumosa, and Ila. Here are the things to know about the new Osun state governor-elect: Ademola Adeleke.
1. Worked in both national and international corporate world
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Adeleke worked in corporate organisations outside the shores of Nigeria. He began his journey as a service contractor. He worked in this capacity from 1985 – 1989 at Quicksilver Courier Company in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
When he returned to Nigeria, from 1992 – 1999, he served as the executive director of Guinness Nigeria Plc, alongside General Theophilus Danjuma, who was one of the co-directors.
He then worked at Pacific Holdings Limited as the group executive director from 2001 – 2016.
2. Family is important
One thing about Senator Adeleke is that he celebrates his family everywhere he gets. No wonder his family served as his bedrock during and after his gubernatorial race.
This can be traced to the inception of his political career, as well as during the political career of his late brother, Senator Adetunji Isiaka Adeleke. The Adelekes were actively involved in all political activities.
Wherever you see Ademola Adeleye, his elder brother Adedeji Adeleke and his nephew David (known as Davido) are near. The family collectively did all the political activities, ranging from rallies to finances.

3. He is well-educated
The school leaving certificate is the minimum qualification to contest for any political position in Nigeria. However, the newly elected Osun State governor has more than just the required SSCE.
After completing his primary and secondary education, he travelled to the United States of America, where he furthered his education. He attended Jacksonville State University, Alabama and studied criminal justice with a minor in political science. In 2021, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Atlanta Metropolitan State College in the United States.
4. Certificate scandal
In 2018, he was charged with presenting a fake secondary school testimonial and WAEC results for the governorship election. He was, therefore, asked to withdraw from his governorship aspiration.
The case was, however, thrown out for lack of evidence. To silence political opposition, in 2021, Adeleke attended Atlanta Metropolitan State College in the United States and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.
5. His sons are artistes
Adeleke is a father to two sons and one daughter and is happily married to Titilope Adeleke. Just like their cousin Davido, the two sons are renowned Nigerian artistes.
The first son, Adebayo Adeleke, is known as B-RED, while the second, Shina Adeleke, is known as Sina Rambo in the entertainment industry. The only girl in the family resides and works in the United States of America.
Indeed, the fruits didn’t fall far from the tree, as the new governor is known for his dancing skills. Hence, the nickname “Dancing Senator.”
