Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ Peaks on UK Official Singles Chart as Seyi Vibez’s ‘Chance’ makes debut

Nigerian superstar, Rema’s “Calm Down” has enjoyed international acclaim. This comes as it reaches a new peak in the latest issue of the UK official singles chart.

Details from the chart week of January 6–12, 2023, showed that Rema’s “Calm Down” remix featuring Selena Gomez reached a new peak of No. 8. The Rema magic also extended its stay on the chart to 19 weeks.

Rema came to the limelight when he posted a freestyle video of D’Prince’s song “Gucci Gang” on Instagram in 2018. Rema was later signed by D’Prince into his record label in 2019. He released his debut project-a four-track EP titled “Rema”. He went on to release “Bad Commando”, “Rewind”, “Boulevard,” “American Love” and “Spider man” amongst others.

Information gathered by DNB Stories Africa revealed that “Rema” stands for “Redeeming Everything Around Music”  Reports say Rema currently has an estimated net worth of over $1, million. 

Other songs on the chart include Burna Boy’s smash single “Last Last.” The song re-enters the chart at No. 53, extending its run on the chart to 31 weeks.

Also, Oxlade’s “Kulosa” re-enters the chart at No. 57, and reaches 16 weeks on the chart.

Burna Boy recorded his second entry on the UK chart with “Alone,” which re-enters at No. 69.

While LaBianca’s smash hit “People” continues its international run as it debuts at No. 92, Tems’ ‘Free Mind’, Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’, and Wizkid ‘Essence’ all dropped one spot respectively to 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Going further, the lower half of the top 10 remains unchanged with CKay’s ‘Love Nwantiti’ retaining the 6th spot, Fireboy’s ‘Peru’ remix remaining at NO. 7, Oxlade’s ‘Kulosa’ staying at NO. 8, Burna Boy’s ‘Alone’ remaining at NO. 9, and Ayra Starr’ ‘Rush’ rounding off the top 10.
