3SC, popularly known as the Oluyole Warriors, recorded the most commanding victory of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Week 11 fixtures on Sunday, defeating Abia Warriors 4-1.
The match, held at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, saw the home side take complete control of the proceedings from the opening whistle. Damilola Akinola set the tone for the afternoon by scoring in the 15th minute, providing the Oluyole Warriors with an early advantage that dictated the tempo of the game.
Sodiq Ibrahim emerged as the protagonist of the afternoon, delivering a clinical first-half brace to stretch the lead. His ability to exploit gaps in the visiting defence turned the encounter into a one-way show for 3SC, effectively deciding the outcome before the halftime interval.
NPFL Week 11 results and home dominance
The emphatic performance by the Ibadan-based side was part of a broader trend during the Week 11 fixtures, where home teams utilised their local advantage to secure vital points. Alongside 3SC’s victory, Enyimba Pillars and Katsina United both earned wins at their respective home grounds, maintaining their competitive positions in the league standings.
For 3SC, the four-goal haul provides a significant boost to their goal difference, a metric that often proves decisive in the final league standings. The efficiency shown by Ibrahim and Akinola suggests a highly disciplined attacking unit capable of overwhelming opponents through high-pressure tactics and rapid transitions.
Abia Warriors, meanwhile, struggled to contend with the pace of the Oluyole Warriors. Although they managed to find the back of the net to avoid a clean sheet, the defensive lapses that allowed 3SC to dominate the first half left them with too much ground to make up in the closing stages of the match.
As the NPFL campaign intensifies, the results from Week 11 will force coaching staff to reassess their tactical approaches. Abia Warriors must now address their defensive organisation to prevent similar collapses in their upcoming fixtures.
