5 Best Daily Habits of Entrepreneurs Across Africa & the World
How we approach each day can be the difference between success and failure
The fact remains that you won’t achieve much if you wait for other people to encourage you to be productive. The best daily habits you can develop as an entrepreneur in Africa, are those driven by self-motivation. Sometimes productive blocks arise and make you feel like you can’t get anything done. But you can chart your out course out of this vicious circle to make better use of your time and achieve more.
Let’s look at some of the best daily habits of entrepreneurs across Africa and the world.
They have clear goals
I had a session with serial entrepreneur Onyeka Akumah, the co-founder of Farmcrowdy, Crowdyvest, Treepz and Rent Small Small. He talked about how from the onset, he always wanted to drive change in the agriculture, real estate and transportation sectors.
“I didn’t cut out to say ‘hey I want to be a serial entrepreneur’, for me, I wanted to create an impact in three sectors -agriculture, real estate and transportation”. He said.
As an entrepreneur, you don’t want to leave your day or career to chance and see what happens. One of the best daily habits you can develop as an entrepreneur is to ensure you have a clear picture of what is important and how you intend to achieve it.
They prioritise their needs
Productive people don’t are in control of their day. They don’t ask for permission to prioritise important projects. They just get to it. Elon Musk uses a productivity hack known as timeboxing, where he preplans his day assigning specific timeframes to activities based on their level of priority.
You might want to perform some crucial task in the morning before checking your email. Try to give more time to pressing projects and reschedule less crucial ones for the next day.
They get enough sleep
When it comes to sleep, Mark Zuckerberg is one of the more typical internet entrepreneurs. He gets up around 8 am every day and sleeps at regular intervals, getting 7–8 hours of rest every day and has no particular sleeping habits.
Ensure you get at least 7 hours of sleep daily. The less sleep you get the more fuzzy things become and you could end up struggling to complete your projects.
They take necessary breaks
You must take regular, deliberate breaks to rejuvenate in order to function at your peak. When you conduct high-intensity, concentrated work, your brain resources are depleted. And you’re replenishing those resources when you take a restorative break, such as moving about, letting your thoughts wander, or conversing with people.
They know when to say no
Even the most productive individuals can’t accomplish everything, so they know that in order to get things done, they’ll have to say no to a lot of requests. This might include politely rejecting certain meetings or initiatives. It might also mean taking a gentler approach, such as delegating group messaging to others or turning off their phones at a specific time of day so they don’t view or respond to messages until the next day.
