5 Good Things President Tinubu Has Done for Nigerians
President Bola Tinubu’s tenure has brought considerable pain and agony to the common citizens of Nigeria.
Expectations were high, yet under his administration, the prices of petrol have surged, and basic foodstuffs have become difficult to afford, leaving many struggling to survive in this tough economy.
However, despite these challenges, there are aspects of President Tinubu’s governance that merit recognition and praise.
Here the the aspects Nigerians should be praising Tinubu for:
The 3 Million Technical Talent Initiative
The “3 Million Technical Talent” (3MTT) program is an initiative of President Tinubu to improve Nigeria’s technology skills. It aims to help Nigeria send skilled tech workers to work around the world. The program started in December 2023 under Nigeria’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The first step of the program picked 30,000 young people from all states and the Federal Capital Territory. They took part in intensive training, which included online courses and practical sessions, working with more than 120 organisations.
NELFUND Student Loan
President Tinubu has introduced a student loan policy to help students afford higher education. This new initiative, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), supports students financially so they can attend universities and colleges without worrying too much about costs. Since its start in August 2024, NELFUND has given out more than N10 billion to eligible students.
Data Protection Policy
Knowing the importance of cybersecurity and data privacy, President Tinubu signed the Data Protection Bill into law. This legislation aims to safeguard personal data and boost confidence in Nigeria’s digital economy, providing a robust framework for privacy rights and enhancing data security across the nation.
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project
The Federal Government has begun the construction of the Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway. This highway will stretch over 700 kilometers and pass through nine states, including two branches that extend to the northern states.
The route will start in Lagos and reach all the way to Cross River, traveling through coastal states like Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom.
Aba/Port Harcourt Expressway
The Federal Government completed the 63-kilometer railway project connecting Port Harcourt to Aba. Due to the previously poor condition of the road, travelers had been forced to use motorcycles and navigate through bush paths and sections of the Expressway to travel between these two cities. This is an initiative of President Tinubu that Nigerians should praise him for.
