All You Need To Know About FG’s Startup Support Engagement Portal

The Federal Government, through its Ministry of Communications, has announced the launch of the Startup Support and Engagement Portal, a platform identified as a key requirement for the implementation of the Nigerian Startup Act.

You would recall that the Nigeria Startup Act was signed into law by former President Buhari in the twilight of his second tenure.

The portal is expected to drive the identification and aggregation of Nigerian startups, venture capital companies, hubs, and innovation centres in order to facilitate engagement and support for ecosystem players

Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, said:

“We are pleased to announce the launch of the Startup Support and Engagement Portal, https://startup.gov.ng/, a key requirement for the implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act. The startup portal will drive the identification and aggregation of Nigerian startups, venture capital companies, hubs and innovation centres in order to facilitate engagement and support for ecosystem players.

The launch of the portal will allow us to initiate the process of setting up the startup consultative forums to select representatives to the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship in order to facilitate discourse and consensus among Nigerian ecosystem players.”

Here are some important things to note about the portal:

It is a key requirement for the implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act.

It aims to initiate the process of setting up the startup consultative forums to select representatives to the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship in order to facilitate discourse and consensus among Nigerian ecosystem players.

All Nigerian startups, VCs, angels, hubs, and innovation centers are encouraged to visit the portal, register, and explore the resources available to them.
