The Anambra State Government has called on members and supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to close ranks, defend the platform, and resist opposition political movements as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The directive was issued in an official statement titled “A Betrayal Alert for Ndi APGA”, which was published on the state government’s official X account on Monday. The online publication detailed the administration’s stance on political realignments and loyalty within the state’s ruling party.
In the statement, the state authorities cautioned party faithful against shifting allegiances or collaborating with rival political platforms, particularly pointing to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a threat to the political stability and continuity of the state government led by APGA.
Political Realignment and 2027 Preparations in Anambra
The call by the Anambra State Government underscores the growing political maneuvering among regional and national parties as politicians position themselves ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. APGA, which has governed Anambra State for nearly two decades, views grassroots solidarity as crucial to maintaining its stronghold in the South-East geopolitical zone.
Political analysts note that the preemptive warning reflects mounting anxiety over potential defections and the growing influence of opposition coalitions seeking to wrest control of the state. The state administration’s public messaging signals an aggressive posture aimed at shoring up party discipline and neutralizing early opposition campaigns.
Party leaders across various local government areas in Anambra are expected to convene meetings in the coming weeks to reinforce party structures and address internal grievances. Meanwhile, representatives of the opposition parties targeted by the state government’s advisory have yet to issue formal responses to the latest political developments.
