APC National Chairman Claims Tinubu’s Achievements Surpass Other Candidates’ Profiles

Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has asserted that the achievements of President Bola Tinubu since taking office in 2023 far exceed the profiles of any other potential candidates.

Speaking on the administration’s progress, Yilwatda cited substantial investments in roads, rail, ports, and gas projects, alongside improvements in agricultural infrastructure and digital connectivity. He argued that the tangible results delivered by the current administration provide a benchmark that other political figures cannot match.

The statement comes as the ruling party intensifies its efforts to consolidate support and define the administration’s legacy as Nigeria moves closer to the next electoral cycle. By framing the President’s record as unmatched, the APC leadership is positioning the administration’s infrastructure and digital agenda as the primary justification for continuity.

Infrastructure and Digital Expansion

Yilwatda highlighted a broad spectrum of developmental projects, specifically pointing to the expansion of the nation’s transport network. This includes the ongoing development of rail corridors and the modernisation of sea ports to enhance trade efficiency. He also noted that the administration’s focus on gas projects is central to the goal of transitioning Nigeria toward a more sustainable energy mix.

In the agricultural sector, the chairman noted that the government has prioritised infrastructure to reduce post-harvest losses and increase food security. These efforts, according to Yilwatda, are paired with a push for digital connectivity, aimed at integrating Nigeria more deeply into the global digital economy and improving government service delivery through technology.

These claims were made during comments regarding the relative strengths of the President’s record compared to other political actors. The APC chairman’s remarks align with the broader “Renewed Hope” agenda, which emphasizes economic reform and large-scale infrastructure development.

Since 2023, the Tinubu administration has faced significant economic headwinds, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the Naira. While these policies led to heightened inflation and cost-of-living challenges for many Nigerians, the APC maintains that these were necessary corrections to enable the long-term infrastructure projects Yilwatda described.

The APC’s current strategy involves shifting the public conversation from the immediate hardships of economic adjustment to the long-term benefits of the administration’s capital projects. The party is now tasked with communicating these achievements to the grassroots to counteract criticisms regarding the economy.

The party leadership is expected to release more detailed data on these projects as part of a nationwide awareness campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
