Apply Now: 5 Countries Where Nigerians Can Get Citizenship Fast

For many Nigerians thinking about moving abroad, how long it takes to get a new passport matters a lot. High living costs, few job openings, and safety worries at home drive people to look for faster ways to become citizens elsewhere.

Today, several countries let you finish the citizenship process in less than a year. You often do this by investing money or using a fast legal route.

Here are 5 countries where you can become a citizen in under a year:

1. Vanuatu: Get Citizenship in 1–4 Months

Vanuatu is a group of peaceful islands in the South Pacific. You can become a citizen here in as little as one to four months. To apply, you make a donation of about US$130,000 to the government’s Development Support Programme.

After you pay, you send your documents and wait for approval. Vanuatu has no income tax, so you keep all the money you earn. The beaches are beautiful, and the government process moves quickly. Many choose Vanuatu for its tropical climate and simple steps to a passport.

2. Grenada: Get Citizenship in 3–4 Months

Grenada is known as the “Spice Isle” of the Caribbean. Its Citizenship by Investment programme takes about three to four months to finish. You can give US$150,000 to the National Transformation Fund or invest US$220,000 in approved real estate.

Once you complete your investment and paperwork, you receive full citizenship. A Grenadian passport lets you travel without a visa to more than 140 countries, including the Schengen Area, the UK, and China. Grenada also offers a special route to a U.S. E-2 investor visa, something few other Caribbean nations provide.

3. Antigua & Barbuda: Get Citizenship in 3–4 Months

Antigua & Barbuda also grants citizenship in around three to four months. You have two main choices: donate US$100,000 to the National Development Fund if you are a single applicant, or invest US$200,000 in government-approved property.

The islands only ask you to live there for five days over five years, so you do not have to move right away. With your new passport, you can visit over 150 countries without a visa. Antigua & Barbuda uses an English legal system, and most people there speak English, which makes it easy for Nigerians to adapt.

4. Turkey: Get Citizenship in 3–6 Months

Turkey sits between Europe and Asia. It lets you become a citizen in three to six months if you meet one of its investment rules. You can buy real estate worth at least US$400,000, put US$500,000 into a Turkish bank, or create jobs for 50 Turkish workers.

After your investment and documents are approved, you receive a Turkish passport. That passport gives visa-free or visa-on-arrival travel to over 110 countries. You also gain the right to live and work in a country with modern cities and a rich culture.

5. St. Kitts & Nevis: Get Citizenship in 2–9 Months

St. Kitts & Nevis runs the oldest Citizenship by Investment programme in the Caribbean. You complete the process in two to nine months. You can either give US$150,000 to the Sustainable Growth Fund (for one person) or invest US$200,000 in approved real estate.

Once you finish, you hold a passport that lets you visit more than 155 countries without a visa. The islands have no wealth tax or inheritance tax. They are stable, English-speaking, and known for clear, honest policies. Many people trust this programme because it has run smoothly since 1984.
