Thousands of migrants continue to stay in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, leaving the North African territory struggling to recover from a massive migration surge.
Current estimates indicate that between 3,000 and 5,000 people remain in the enclave, according to reports from Africanews.
The ongoing presence of these individuals follows a crisis in which approximately 80,000 people swarmed into the tiny territory. While the vast majority of those migrants have since departed or been returned, the remaining population continues to exert pressure on the enclave’s infrastructure.
The North African territory is described as still “reeling” from the scale of the influx, as officials manage the logistics of the remaining thousands who have not yet left the region.
