Court Orders Police to Evict Emir Sanusi from Kano Palace and Reinstate Aminu Bayero
Justice S. A. Amobeda of the Federal High Court in Kano has ordered the newly reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II to vacate the Gidan Rumfa Palace immediately.
The judge gave the ex parte order on Tuesday, hours after another judge, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the State High Court granted an order restraining the eviction of Emir Sanusi II.
The Federal Court order also mandated the police to enforce the reinstatement of the dethroned 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero and should see to it that all due rights and privileges associated with his position are restored.

The court’s key injunctions:
- It prohibits any actions by various respondents—including their agents or any person acting on their behalf—that would invite, arrest, detain, threaten, intimidate, or harass Emir Bayero.
- It specifically restrains any party from tampering with or evicting anything or anyone residing illegally within the Emir’s official residence and palace at Kofar Kudu.
The suit has been adjourned to June 4, 2024, for further hearings, indicating that the dispute over the emirate’s leadership is far from over.
