Dangote Refinery Refutes Claims of ₦600/Litre Petrol Price as Speculative

The management of Dangote Refinery has strongly refuted reports suggesting that it has set a fixed price of ₦600 per litre for petrol, labelling such claims as “speculative” and lacking any factual basis.

This clarification was issued on Tuesday by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Industries Limited.

The statement was in response to recent media reports alleging that the refinery was in discussions with oil marketers to sell petrol at ₦600 per litre.

Dangote Refinery stressed that it has not entered into any partnership with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and will continue to communicate any official information through its established channels.

“Our attention has been drawn to headlines such as ‘Marketers Project N600/litre for Dangote Petrol,’ which appeared in the Punch Newspapers on Tuesday, August 13, 2024,” the statement read.

“We wish to clarify that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not yet our business partner.”

Chiejina further asserted, “We have never engaged in discussions with IPMAN regarding the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). They have no mandate or authority to represent us, either positively or with ulterior motives.”

The company urged the public to disregard such speculative reports and rely only on information disseminated through its official communication channels.
