Davido Earns Spot in Black Music Walk of Fame, Joins Fela Kuti in History.

Davido is getting his flowers in Atlanta. The Nigerian Afrobeats star joins the 2026 class of the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame. He shares the honour with rapper Ludacris, gospel bishop Paul S. Morton, and the late former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson

The induction ceremony holds on June 1, 2026, in Atlanta’s Historic Westside, outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

What Is the Black Music Walk of Fame?

The Walk launched in January 2021 in Downtown Atlanta. It sits along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Northside Drive. Bronze and gold plaques line the sidewalk to honour people who shaped Black music and culture around the world.

Past inductees include Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Usher, Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, James Brown, Quincy Jones, and Stevie Wonder. Fela Kuti also has a plaque on the Walk. Davido now joins his Afrobeat predecessor in that permanent record.

What Davido Has Achieved

The recognition makes sense when you look at the numbers. Davido has over five billion streams and 1.2 billion video views. In 2023, he became the first African artist to top the iTunes Album Chart with his album Timeless. That album earned three Grammy nominations.

His 2025 album 5IVE earned him another Grammy nod, this time for Best African Music Performance at the 68th Grammy Awards. He now holds five Grammy nominations in total.

Born in the United States and raised in Nigeria, Davido built his name across two continents. That global reach fits perfectly with what the Walk of Fame celebrates.

Who Else Joins the 2026 Class

Ludacris has sold over 24 million albums worldwide. He holds the record as the highest-selling Southern Hip-Hop solo artist of all time. The ceremony also marks the 25th anniversary of the Ludacris Foundation, his Atlanta-based charity.

Bishop Paul S. Morton, Jack the Rapper, and former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson complete the 2026 class. Organisers call it one of the most significant classes in the Walk’s five-year history.

A Big Moment for Afrobeats

Fela Kuti was the first. Davido is now the second Nigerian artist on the Walk. Two Nigerians holding permanent plaques on one of America’s most respected music landmarks says a lot about how far Afrobeats has travelled.

Davido has been one of the genre’s loudest voices on the world stage. This induction puts that legacy in stone.
