DP World expands Nigerian trade via TGI Logistics partnership

DP World has expanded its commercial operations in Nigeria through a new partnership with TGI Logistics, a move designed to strengthen trade corridors and logistics efficiency across the country.

The agreement follows the recent signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Paris between the Ogun State Government and DP World MEA FZE. These MoUs outline the development of the Gateway Deep Sea Port and the Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone.

The partnership between DP World and TGI Logistics aims to leverage these emerging maritime assets to facilitate the more efficient movement of goods, supporting both local manufacturing and international trade flows.

Maritime and industrial expansion in Ogun State

The development of the Gateway Deep Sea Port is a central element of Ogun State’s strategy to become a major logistics hub for West Africa. The project is expected to provide a modern alternative to the heavily congested ports in Lagos, such as Apapa and Tin Can Island, thereby reducing turnaround times for vessels and lowering the cost of doing business.

Governor Dapo Abiodun has been driving an industrialisation agenda in the state, seeking to attract foreign direct investment through infrastructure development. The proposed Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone will complement the port, providing dedicated land for industrial clusters, manufacturing plants, and processing facilities that require direct access to maritime shipping routes.

During the formalisation of the agreements in Paris, Governor Abiodun and DP World Group Chief Executive Officer, Yuvraj Narayan, confirmed the commitment of both parties to these projects. The involvement of DP World, a global leader in logistics, is intended to introduce international standards in port management and supply chain technology to the region.

As the project moves from the agreement stage toward physical implementation, the focus will shift to technical assessments, environmental clearances, and the commencement of construction. The success of these developments will depend on the timely execution of the infrastructure plans and the ability to integrate the new port with existing road and rail networks.
