Duchess International Hospital marks five years of healthcare milestones

Duchess International Hospital has celebrated its fifth year of operations, marking the milestone by reviewing its impact on healthcare accessibility and community welfare in Nigeria.

The Chairman of the hospital, Dr. Yemi Onabowale, stated that the institution has reached significant milestones by providing affordable healthcare programmes to its patients over the last five years. The anniversary event, held in Lagos on Thursday, brought together key stakeholders in the Nigerian health sector to mark the institution’s growth since its inception.

During the celebration of the hospital’s five-year milestone, Dr. Onabowale noted that the facility has focused on touching lives through structured medical services and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Stakeholders review healthcare delivery and social impact

The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Adekunle Salako, and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Ogun State, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi. Their participation reflects the role of private healthcare providers in supporting national health objectives and addressing medical service gaps.

Other notable figures in attendance included Dr. Olajide Ojo, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Duchess Hospital, and Dr. (Mrs) Folakemi Irewole-Ojo, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of General Hospital, Ebute Metta. The gathering also featured Dr. Sesan Onabowale, Mrs Dayo Onabowale, and Pa Simon Sanwo-Olu.

The hospital’s focus on affordable healthcare and CSR comes as Nigeria faces increasing pressure to expand medical access across various demographics. By combining private medical expertise with community-focused initiatives, Duchess International Hospital aims to address the gap between high-cost specialised care and the need for accessible services for a broader population.

The hospital’s leadership indicated that its operations will remain focused on these core pillars of affordability and social responsibility as the institution enters its sixth year of service.
