Full List of All Countries Tinubu Visited Since Taking Office
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has undertaken a wide range of official foreign visits since assuming office in May 2023, covering Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia.
The presidency has consistently described these trips as part of Nigeria’s diplomatic outreach, focused on strengthening bilateral relations, attracting investment, expanding trade, and reinforcing the country’s global presence.
As of January 2026, official records show that Tinubu has visited 24 countries across five major world regions.
Supporters argue that the travel reflects active economic and security diplomacy, while critics continue to question cost and frequency. What is not in dispute, however, is the scale of the administration’s international engagement since inauguration.
Scope of Tinubu’s diplomatic engagements
Since his swearing-in, President Tinubu has participated in high-level summits, state visits, bilateral meetings, and engagements with global institutions and investors. Government officials maintain that each trip was tied to defined policy objectives rather than ceremonial travel.
Europe featured prominently in the early phase of the administration’s foreign policy push, followed by sustained engagement with African neighbours and regional partners. The Middle East and Asia have also been key destinations, reflecting Nigeria’s interest in energy cooperation, infrastructure development, trade expansion, and climate-related financing.

Most recently, President Tinubu returned to Abuja on Friday, January 17, after attending the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. The summit brought together global leaders to discuss climate action, energy transition, and sustainable development.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit delivered concrete outcomes for Nigeria beyond high-level meetings.
On the sidelines of the summit, Nigeria entered into a major economic agreement with the United Arab Emirates aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and investment flows.
