Gov. Sanwo-Olu to Ensure LASU Students Benefit from Federal Student Loan Program
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State announced that the state will ensure students of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, benefit fully from the Federal Government’s student loan program managed by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
Speaking at Thursday’s 27th Convocation of LASU, Sanwo-Olu emphasised his administration’s dedication to empowering students in state-owned tertiary institutions.
“We aim to foster a generation of innovative thinkers, problem-solvers, and great leaders who will drive sustainable development in Lagos State and beyond,” he stated.
Ensuring Access to Loans
Gov. Babajide assured that the Lagos State Government would collaborate with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to facilitate the new national student loan program for students of state-owned institutions.
“We will ensure that students of the Lagos State University fully benefit from this laudable policy,” he said.
The governor highlighted the importance of academic excellence, urging society to value it as much as artistic and sporting achievements.
“Our young people must see reason to hunger for academic excellence with the same energy and enthusiasm,” he noted.

Sanwo-Olu Recognizing Outstanding Achievement
Sanwo-Olu congratulated Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale, the best graduating student for the 2022/2023 session, who achieved a CGPA of 4.98 in Accounting Education.
In recognition of Olawale’s outstanding feat, the governor announced a cash gift of N10 million.
In her convocation speech, LASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, celebrated the graduates’ achievements.
“Today’s ceremony marks the concluding event of the 27th Convocation and a symbolic moment of fulfilment and pride for 89 Doctors of Philosophy and 66 professional doctoral degree graduands,” she said.
