How Bobrisky’s Attempt to Cross the Border Failed

New details have come to light about how Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, a famous cross-dresser, was stopped and arrested at the Seme Border early on Monday.

People who saw what happened told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Bobrisky reached the border in a black SUV around 1:30 a.m. He was supposed to stop at the health check area but didn’t stop until he reached the immigration checkpoint.

At the immigration stop, the driver gave Bobrisky’s passport to the officers for checking. An officer, named Yusuf, noticed it was Bobrisky in the car. Yusuf quietly told the top officer on duty, who then called Mr. Muhammad Adamu, the head of immigration at Seme.

They asked Bobrisky to come out for a regular passport check, but instead, they took him to the office for questioning.

Bobrisky was kept in the office until 4:00 p.m. and then moved to the Lagos State Command of the immigration service for more questioning.

Bobrisky’s lawyer came to Seme later to ask why he was being held.

The immigration service confirmed they had stopped Bobrisky at the border. Mr. Kenneth Udo, a spokesperson, said they stopped him because he was involved in some recent public issues.

Udo said Bobrisky was trying to leave the country and they were holding him for more questions and would hand him over to the right authorities for further steps.
