Ice Prince Opens Up About His difficult Six Days in Ikoyi Prison

Nigerian rapper Ice Prince, whose real name is Panshak Zamani, has opened up about the challenging six days he spent at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre in Lagos. His incarceration followed his arrest in September 2022 due to allegations of assaulting a police officer.

Ice Prince vividly described his time in prison as “horrible,” noting that he was treated the same as other inmates, with no special privileges despite his celebrity status.

Throughout his stay, he encountered the harsh realities of prison life, an experience he reflected on as emotionally and socially taxing. Yet, during this difficult time, he managed to form meaningful bonds with fellow inmates, which he later described as akin to attending “a different institution of higher learning.”

Ice Prince also addressed rumours about his arrest, clarifying that it was a misunderstanding. He explained that he was joking with the police officer during a routine stop-and-search when he unexpectedly drove off, leading to his arrest.

He stressed the gravity of his experience, stating, “It’s a different world. I don’t pray for my worst enemy to experience it. You have to be careful out there because mistakes can take you there. There are so many innocent people in there.”

These candid revelations from Ice Prince highlight the significant emotional and social challenges faced by individuals in incarceration, revealing a side of the prison experience rarely discussed publicly by celebrities.
