Is X Not Working? Cloudflare Outages Affect Users

Users of X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, experienced interruptions on the morning of Tuesday, November 18, 2025. 

Reports of outages flooded social media as thousands of users in the U.S. faced issues accessing the platform.

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, over 11,947 problem reports were logged at 6:37 a.m. EST. By around 7 a.m., the number of incidents had dropped to less than 6,000, signaling that the platform was slowly returning to normal.

X confirmed the disruptions in a statement, saying: “X (formerly Twitter) has been experiencing intermittent issues as a result of the outage. The platform is currently available, but availability has been patchy for the last hour or so.”

Many users traced the problems to Cloudflare, a major internet infrastructure provider that supports many online services. Cloudflare explained that it was experiencing “an internal service degradation” which caused intermittent interruptions across some platforms. 

The company added that it was focused on restoring service and promised updates as fixes were implemented.

For context, Cloudflare provides core technologies that power much of the internet, helping websites load quickly and securely. When Cloudflare experiences disruptions, it can affect multiple platforms simultaneously, which appears to have been the case with X on Tuesday morning.

While the outages were brief, they caused noticeable disruption for users relying on X for communication, news, and social interaction. Both X and Cloudflare are working to ensure such interruptions are minimized in the future.
