The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the full restoration of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) following a technical disruption that temporarily halted admission processing for candidates across the country.
According to the board’s weekly bulletin issued in Abuja, the automated platform was successfully brought back online on Sunday, September 27. The regulatory body immediately called on all tertiary institutions across the nation to expedite their ongoing admission workflows to compensate for lost time.
The downtime had previously created bottlenecks for universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and innovation enterprise institutes relying on the portal to process candidates seeking admission for the academic session. With the system now operational, the board expects admission officers to clear backlogs without further delays.
CAPS serves as the sole centralized platform through which Nigerian tertiary institutions conduct and monitor admissions transparently. The portal ensures that candidates meet minimum cut-off marks, possess the requisite O-level credits, and are placed according to federal guidelines and institutional capacities.
Institution administrators and admission panels are now required to step up screening exercises and upload successful candidate lists directly onto the restored database. Candidates have also been advised to regularly check their profile dashboards on the portal to monitor their admission status and promptly accept or reject offers.
