Jerry Eze: If I Ever Become a ‘Professional’ Pastor, May God Take My Life

Pastor Jerry Eze, founder of Streams of Joy International and architect of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD) movement, has made it clear that his calling isn’t a job he can clock out of. In a recent conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Eze insisted he is not and never will be a “professional pastor.”

Recalling his unexpected rise to prominence during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, Eze said his ministry sprang from a divine mandate rather than any worldly ambition. “The day it stops being about God and starts being about Jerry, let God shut it all down,” he warned. “If I ever become a professional pastor, may God take my life.”

Eze explained that when he launched NSPPD online, he never dreamed it would grow into a global platform. “This wasn’t part of my plan, none of this was,” he admitted. “But God brought me here, and I trust Him to guide every step. My heart is set on helping people encounter His power.”

For Eze, the real reward isn’t fame or income but the transformations he witnesses. “I don’t care about others’ opinions,” he said. “What matters is those smiles, those testimonies. That’s what keeps me going.”

Underlining his conviction that ministry is a sacred assignment, not a career path, Eze’s pledge serves as a challenge to anyone tempted by self-promotion. As he put it, “This is a calling, not a profession.”
