Kogi LG Chairman Pledges Support for Tinubu and Ododo in 2027

The Chairman of Kogi Local Government Area, Musa Abdulmalik, has declared that the council remains peaceful and united in its support for the 2027 re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Abdulmalik made this assurance on Monday during a meeting with a Workplace Security Campaign team at his office. The Chairman emphasised that the local government administration is firmly committed to the political continuity of the current leadership at both the federal and state levels.

The declaration comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gain momentum across various local government areas in Nigeria. By affirming the council’s loyalty, Abdulmalik is positioning Kogi Local Government Area as a stable political unit within the state.

Political alignment and local security

The meeting with the Workplace Security Campaign team provided an opportunity for the Chairman to discuss the importance of maintaining order within the local government. Abdulmalik stated that a peaceful environment is essential for the council to execute its mandate and ensure the welfare of its residents.

The assurance of peace and unity by the Chairman reflects the ongoing efforts to consolidate political support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. Since taking office, Ododo has focused on strengthening the relationship between the state government and local government administrators to ensure administrative stability.

Local government chairmen play a critical role in Nigerian politics, serving as the primary link between the grassroots and the state government. The early alignment of Kogi LG with the presidency and the state house suggests a coordinated effort to secure the region’s political landscape well in advance of the next election cycle.

Security remains a central theme in the council’s current agenda. The engagement with the security campaign team indicates that the local government administration is prioritising workplace and communal safety as a foundation for political and economic stability.

The council is expected to continue its collaboration with security agencies to monitor the local political climate and ensure that the peace described by the Chairman is maintained throughout the upcoming political season.
