Lagos LG Chair Bans Random Posters, Banners

The Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Babatunde Hunpe, has ordered a restriction on the indiscriminate placement of banners, posters and other advertising materials around the Badagry International Roundabout.

Hunpe said the move is part of ongoing efforts by the local government to decongest, reorganise and improve the appearance of the busy roundabout.

Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Lagos, the council chairman said the restriction would help improve visibility for motorists and reduce obstructions around the area.

According to him, unauthorised banners and posters can block traffic signs, distract road users and affect the general outlook of one of Badagry’s major entry points.

Approval now required

Hunpe advised individuals, political groups, religious organisations, businesses and other bodies to obtain approval from the local government before placing banners, posters or signage within the roundabout axis.

He said the council would no longer tolerate the uncontrolled display of advertising materials in the area.

The chairman warned that materials placed without approval would be removed by enforcement officers.

He added that violators may also face sanctions if they fail to comply with the directive.

Council seeks public cooperation

Hunpe appealed to residents, traders, advertisers and other stakeholders to support the policy, saying the goal is to keep the Badagry International Roundabout safe, orderly and presentable.

He said the local government remains committed to improving public spaces and ensuring that major roads and landmarks are properly maintained.

The restriction is expected to reduce visual clutter around the roundabout and support better traffic movement in the area.
