Lagos Named World’s Fastest-Growing Emerging Tech Hub
Lagos has been officially recognised as the World’s Fastest-Growing Emerging Tech Hub, according to the latest report from data analytics leader Statisense. This accolade highlights the city’s rapid ascent as a centre for innovation in 2025.
Statisense’s ecosystem intelligence report, released on X yesterday, evaluated over 50 emerging tech cities on enterprise value, unicorn count, funding growth, GDP per capita, and cost of living.
Lagos topped the list, narrowly outpacing Istanbul, with Pune, Belo Horizonte, Mumbai, and Curitiba completing the top six. The top ten also featured Riyadh, Johannesburg, Chennai, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Other cities featured in the report include Kyiv, Mexico City, Vilnius, Jakarta, Bengaluru, Zagreb, Dhaka, Bangkok, Santiago, and Kampala, all of which are noted for their fast-growing tech scenes.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu applauded the state’s developers and entrepreneurs at the Art of Technology Lagos 6.0 conference, themed “Artificial Intelligence and the Lagos Digital Economy.”
He credited the selection of Lagos as the World’s Fastest-Growing Emerging Tech Hub to deliberate policies and targeted investments, saying:
“Our ecosystem’s growth has been supported by infrastructure upgrades, innovation grants, and partnerships that spur Lagos-based startups.”
He pointed out that in 2023, Lagos startups attracted over $1.2 billion in funding, about 75% of all Nigerian startup capital, a testament to why Lagos leads as the World’s Fastest-Growing Emerging Tech Hub.
This global recognition cements Lagos’s position as Africa’s premier innovation engine and sets a high bar for other emerging markets striving to replicate its success.
