Lagos Police To Investigate Tiwa Savage’s Petition Against Davido Over Alleged Threats
The Lagos State Police Command, led by spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed receiving Tiwa Savage’s petition against her industry colleague, Davido.
Subsequently, they have commenced an investigation into the alleged threats from him.
Mr. Hundeyin said, “I can confirm that we received the petition. We have began investigation.”
Nigerian singing sensation Tiwa Savage has boldly stepped forward, filing a police petition against fellow artist David Adeleke, known as Davido, over allegations of bullying and life-threatening behavior.
Consequently, the feud, capturing the attention of both fans and media, features Savage accusing Davido of hostile and derogatory messages.
Following this, the controversy was fueled by a social media post involving Savage and Sophia Momodu, Davido’s baby mama, which seemingly led to the alleged threats.
In response, Savage, in her detailed petition dated January 9 and addressed to Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, expressed her disappointment and concern over Davido’s actions.
Despite her support for Davido’s family, particularly during the tragic loss of his son, Savage reports receiving unsettling calls that questioned her actions and relationship with Sophia.
The content of Savage’s petition highlights these concerns, reading in part:
I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself, and Adeleke.
On December 23, I made a post which included myself and Sophia Momodu’s Instagram Story – a feature on Instagram which allows you to put up a post for twenty-four hours, and Adeleke sent messages to my manager who’s also part of his management team that I shouldn’t worry and should never say a word to him and that I was taunting him, uttering very đisrespectful, malicious and derogatory words to my person.
I responded to Mr David Adeleke’s message and told him not to reach out to me, especially as I feel like I have been there for him and his daughter, Imade, and more importantly when he lost his son.
She emphasized the actions of Davido as a potential violation of her rights to life, privacy, and dignity, as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution and the Cybercrime Act of 2015.
Savage’s stance is clear: any harm to her or her family should directly implicate Davido.
She affirmed;
I would like to make this complaint, and to state that in the event that anything untoward or harmful were to happen to me or any member of my family, I will like the members of the Nigerian Police Force to hold David Adeleke responsible.
I am available to answer any questions or provide any additional information regarding this matter, she added.
As the police delve into the allegations, the music industry and fans await further developments.
This case highlights legal and ethical concerns in entertainment, underscoring the importance of respecting individual rights and dignity.
The public eagerly awaits the police investigation’s outcome, hoping it upholds justice and integrity in Nigeria’s music scene.
