NCDMB Promotes Nigerian Energy Reforms at ADIPEC Leadership Roundtable

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has presented Nigeria’s investment-friendly reforms to global energy leaders during a high-level strategic roundtable at the ADIPEC conference in Abu Dhabi.

The session, held under the theme “Delivering the Energy the World Needs: Recalibrating Upstream Projects,” brought together 21 global industry leaders to address the critical challenges facing the energy sector. Discussions focused on securing investments, enhancing project delivery, and improving financing mechanisms for sustainable growth.

Dr Obinna Ezeobi, the NCDMB General Manager of Corporate Communications, represented the board during the strategic leadership roundtable briefing, where the agency detailed the recent policy shifts intended to make the Nigerian oil and gas industry more attractive to international capital.

The NCDMB’s participation comes at a time when Nigeria is seeking to revitalise its upstream sector to boost crude oil production and meet global energy demands. These efforts are largely anchored on the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), which provides a more stable and transparent regulatory framework for investors.

Addressing upstream project delivery and financing

The roundtable highlighted the urgent need for recalibrating upstream projects to ensure they remain viable in a shifting global energy landscape. Participants discussed how to bridge the gap between project planning and execution, particularly in emerging markets where financing and infrastructure remain key hurdles.

By showcasing the current reforms, the NCDMB aims to reassure global stakeholders that the Nigerian regulatory environment is becoming increasingly conducive to large-scale energy projects. The agency’s strategy involves aligning international investment with its mandate to increase local participation, ensuring that new projects drive domestic industrialisation and employment.

Industry experts at the event noted that the ability to secure long-term financing is central to the success of upcoming upstream developments. For Nigeria, the emphasis is on demonstrating that the country has the legal and economic stability required to support multi-billion-dollar energy investments.

The outcomes of the discussions at ADIPEC are expected to influence how global energy firms approach project financing and resource allocation in Africa over the coming months. The NCDMB is expected to continue its engagement with international investors to facilitate the implementation of these reformed policies.
