How NCS Plans to Combat Smuggling of Nuclear Materials

In a resolute effort to safeguard national security and protect against the illicit smuggling of nuclear materials, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has unveiled its strategic plan to implement a Radiological and Nuclear Detection Program. This groundbreaking initiative is set to fortify the nation’s defenses and marks Nigeria as a pioneering nation in addressing the global challenge of nuclear weapons smuggling.

Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, made this momentous announcement during the inauguration of a 4-Day Capacity Building Workshop organized by the World Customs Organization (WCO) at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College in Gwagwalada.

NCS set to use the Service’s Radiological and Nuclear Detection Program

The Nigeria Customs Service’s Radiological and Nuclear Detection Program is a significant step towards strengthening national security and contributing to global efforts to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons. 

As Nigeria takes the lead in implementing this program, it sends a powerful message that the nation is committed to securing its borders and protecting the world from the grave dangers associated with nuclear weapons smuggling.
