The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called for a swift investigation and the prosecution of the perpetrators involved in the fatal stabbing of Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu, a public commentator in Kano State.
The incident, which occurred at the victim’s residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, has drawn sharp condemnation from the Commission. In a statement released by the Director of Corporate Affairs and External Linkages, Fatimah Agwai, the NHRC expressed its grief over the loss of life and the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The Executive Secretary of the NHRC, Chief Tony Ojukwu, SAN, emphasised the necessity of ensuring that those responsible for the killing are brought to justice. The commission’s demand for accountability follows the fatal stabbing of Mr Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu, an event that has raised significant concerns regarding the safety of individuals engaged in public discourse.
Security concerns in Kumbotso
The killing of Mr Danshagamu has added to the ongoing discussions regarding security and the protection of human rights within the state.
