The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its involvement in global peacekeeping and international security efforts.
General Musa made the announcement on Tuesday while attending the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Minister was part of a high-level Nigerian delegation that included Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The Minister’s statement serves to signal Nigeria’s intention to maintain its status as a key contributor to United Nations-led stability operations. This comes as the international community seeks renewed cooperation to address emerging security threats across various regions, particularly in Africa.
Nigeria’s standing in global security frameworks
