President Biya Wins Again, 8th Term at 92
Cameroon’s President Paul Biya has secured another term in office, even at the age of 92. The official announcement came from the Constitutional Council on Monday, confirming that he will continue to lead the country for seven more years.
This result shows how strong his grip on power remains after ruling for more than forty years.
Biya has more than 4 decades in power
Biya first took leadership in 1982. Since then, he has remained the face of Cameroon’s government through many elections and political changes.
With this latest win, he is expected to stay in office until 2032. By that time, he will be approaching 100 years old, making his leadership one of the longest in modern history.
Only a handful of world leaders have ruled as long as Biya. His age also places him among the oldest sitting presidents alive. Supporters say his experience brings stability, while critics argue that such a long rule limits political freedom and fresh ideas in government.
