President Tinubu Approves Two Weeks Free Train Rides Nationwide
President Bola Tinubu has authorised free train rides across Nigeria from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025, to help reduce transportation costs during the Christmas and New Year holidays. This announcement was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press briefing in Abuja.
Idris emphasized, “As we did last year, there will be free train services available to all Nigerians from December 20 until January 5. This initiative is nationwide and aims to support citizens during the festive season.”
He further explained, “This decision is in line with the President’s commitment to alleviate transportation costs, especially for the most vulnerable groups in our society. It continues the tradition established in the previous year and during recent Sallah celebrations. The President has reaffirmed his support for this measure this year.”
The free train service is expected to benefit countless Nigerians travelling during the holidays, making it easier for families and friends to connect without the burden of high travel costs.
