Sacked Senator Ndume Tells Tinubu to Talk to Protesters, Warns of Danger Ahead in Video

In a recent interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Ali Ndume, the senator representing Borno South senatorial district, urged President Bola Tinubu to negotiate with youths planning hunger protests across the country.

Ndume, who was recently dismissed as the chief whip of the Tenth Senate following his criticism of President Tinubu, expressed concerns about the protests potentially escalating to the scale of the EndSARS movement.

The senator highlighted a significant challenge in addressing the protests: the anonymity of the organizers.

Unlike the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which had identifiable leaders to engage with during negotiations, the youth protests lacked clear representatives, complicating the government’s ability to negotiate effectively.

Ndume’s comments came in response to the NLC’s earlier position, with union president Joe Ajaero calling on the federal government to engage with the youths instead of politicizing the protests.

In the same interview, Ndume praised President Tinubu’s efforts to tackle insecurity, particularly the insurgency in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

He noted that Maiduguri is currently more secure than the Federal Capital Territory, attributing a recent bombing in the northeast to the relaxation of some security measures.

Ndume urged Nigerians to be patient with President Tinubu, emphasizing that he has been in office for just one year and has consistently responded to the nation’s concerns.
