Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Suspended for 6 Months
The Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months following allegations of sexual harassment she made against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The decision was made by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions on Thursday, March 6, 2024.
During her suspension, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan will not receive her salary, and her security details will be withdrawn. Furthermore, she has been barred from appearing anywhere around the National Assembly for the duration of her suspension.
The suspension arises from a contentious situation that began when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, formally accused Senate President Akpabio of sexual misconduct, submitting a petition to the Senate for this matter.
