Shettima Arrives Switzerland for the 2026 World Economic Forum
Vice President Kashim Shettima, has arrived in Switzerland to represent Nigeria at the 56th Annual World Economic Forum (WEF 2026) in Davos, holding from January 19th to 23rd, 2026.
His visit represents a significant turning point in Nigeria’s relationship with world leaders in politics and business.
Shettima will be leading the Nigeria delegation at the forum after he represented President Bola Tinubu during the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya, on Friday.

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications reported the vice president was welcomed by senior Nigerian officials. They are Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment Jumoke Oduwole and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yussuf Tuggar, among others.
Nigeria’s participation is significant with the opening of “Nigeria House Davos,” the nation’s first-ever sovereign pavilion at the WEF Promenade, created through a public-private partnership.
Throughout the forum, ministerial meetings, investment discussions, and cultural diplomacy activities will take place within the pavilion.
Prior to the meeting, Shettima mentioned that Nigeria wants to present its investment prospects, economic potential, and strategic development priorities to world leaders.
In addition to presenting the nation’s economic picture for 2026, he is anticipated to participate in conversations about important global concerns like biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Business, told reporters shortly after the Vice President arrived that Nigeria will exploit the opening of Nigeria House in Davos to emphasize its business opportunities.
As Nigeria positions itself to draw in foreign investors, she clarified that the presentation would focus on four strategic “playbooks” that are in line with President Bola Tinubu’s economic reform agenda.
According to her, “We will be showcasing four playbooks on President Tinubu’s efforts in re-engineering the Nigerian economy… We will present our solid minerals sector, climate sustainability, agriculture, and creative and digital sectors to investors from all over the world.”
Throughout the week, the Vice President is expected to meet bilaterally with leaders of international development funding organizations, heads of state, and executives from major enterprises.
