Tinubu Requests Senate Approval for Rivers State’s N1.48 Trillion Budget
President Bola Tinubu has formally submitted a request to the Senate and House of Representatives for the approval of a N1.48 trillion appropriation bill for Rivers State.
The letter, which was read aloud during a Senate plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, detailed that the funds will be managed by the Emergency Rule Government of Rivers State.
The budget aims to support key sectors such as education, agriculture, healthcare, and the distribution of free medications.
Akpabio highlighted some allocations within the budget, including billions dedicated to infrastructure projects, ₦166 billion set aside for health services, ₦75.6 billion for education, ₦31.4 billion for agriculture, and ₦5 billion earmarked for free drug distribution accessible to all residents.
The Senate President has since referred the budget proposal to the committee responsible for overseeing the Emergency Rule in Rivers State, with a report expected at the earliest opportunity.
