Tinubu Suspends Betta Edu, Orders EFCC Probe into Ministry’s Finances

President Bola Tinubu has suspended Dr. Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, and instructed the EFCC to investigate the Ministry’s transactions.

Directed to cooperate fully, the suspended Minister will hand over duties to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan.

Furthermore, a panel, led by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Finance Minister, aims to reform institutions and programs.

This comprehensive diagnostic targets the financial architecture of social investment programs, seeking to eliminate institutional frailties.

Allegations against Dr. Betta Edu involve approving significant disbursements into a personal account, sparking concerns about public fund misuse.

The Minister has, however, denied involvement in any embezzlement, emphasizing her dedication to public service which further highlights the challenges in maintaining public trust.
