Trump Launches ‘Gold Card’ Program: $5 Million for US Residency for Rich Foreigners

President Donald Trump has introduced a new “Gold Card” program designed to allow wealthy foreigners to live and work in the United States if they pay a fee of USD five million. This program will also offer them a chance to become U.S. citizens.

According to a report by CNN, this new plan will take the place of the existing EB-5 immigrant investor visa program.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick mentioned that those applying for the Gold Card must pass a thorough check to ensure they are good global citizens.

Trump announced that the sale of these Gold Cards will start in about two weeks and he believes that millions could be sold. He confirmed, “From the legal standpoint, it’s totally legal to do.”

During a media event at the Oval Office, Trump also handled other matters, including signing a directive about the copper industry and answering various questions. When asked whether Russian oligarchs could participate in this new program, Trump said yes, adding that he knows some who are “very nice people.”

At this event, Trump also looked at a map of the newly renamed Gulf of America and humorously commented that he was moved by it but didn’t want the media to say he was crying.

Trump criticised the Associated Press, calling them “radical left” and accusing them of not being fair. White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt supported this view by saying that questioning the President is a privilege, not a right.

During the briefing, Trump handed out pamphlets that said, “Trump was right about everything,” and playfully asked if anyone wanted one, showcasing his confidence in his policies.
