Why Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar Cannot Rule Nigeria in 2027 – APC

Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has clearly stated that Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar are not fit to lead the country in 2027. This came after both opposition leaders met recently, which the APC called a desperate attempt to challenge the current government.

On Tuesday in Abuja, Peter Obi from the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met behind closed doors. This meeting started rumors that they might join forces to try to win the next election against President Bola Tinubu.

Felix Morka, the spokesperson for the APC, criticized the meeting in a statement called “Atiku, Obi united by mutual desperation.” He said the meeting was more about stopping President Tinubu from being reelected than about making things better for Nigeria.

The APC pointed out that both men have often switched parties and questioned whether they can be trusted as leaders. “Peter Obi might go back to the PDP, and Atiku might go to the Labour Party. This just shows they often change sides,” said Morka.

The party expressed strong support for President Tinubu, praising his efforts to make Nigeria a better and more prosperous country. “The talks between Atiku and Obi don’t threaten the progress President Tinubu plans to keep making,” added Morka.

The APC is clear: they see the possible partnership between Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar as just a way to grab power, not a real plan for the country’s future. As the 2027 elections approach, the party is asking Nigerians to choose a stable and reliable government over uncertain promises from those who often change their political loyalties.
