Wizkid & Asake’s “Jogodo” Hits 10 Million Spotify Streams, Sets New Record

Wizkid and Asake have set a new Spotify pace record with their collaboration, “Jogodo,” which has reached 10 million streams in under one week now tracked as the fastest African song to hit 10 million Spotify streams.

The milestone was flagged by Charts Africa, which cited the song’s unusually rapid streaming growth on the platform.

The run started fast and didn’t slow down

Before “Jogodo” crossed 10 million, it had already moved past 5 million streams within days, and that early surge was linked to a Spotify Nigeria record for the biggest opening and streaming week recorded in the country.

On the charts, the track also held No. 1 on Nigeria’s Spotify Top Songs, underlining that the growth is not just global curiosity, it has strong home-market weight too.

Why this record matters

In today’s Nigerian music economy, streaming numbers function like proof of demand, useful for chart power, brand leverage, and especially touring.

A recent Nigerian music market report cited in industry coverage estimates $395 million in earnings from touring and live performances across 2024/2025, reinforcing that live shows remain the main revenue engine while streaming drives discovery and momentum.

So when a song hits 10 million streams this fast, it signals more than popularity: it signals market pull.

Wizkid + Asake is a global-ready combination

The collaboration sits on two proven global trajectories.

Asake has already shown arena-level demand abroad, headlining and selling out Barclays Center (Brooklyn) in September 2023 and selling out London’s O2 Arena in August 2023.

He also expanded U.S. mainstream visibility with a performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on February 1, 2024.

Wizkid remains one of Afrobeats’ most internationally established stars, including a Grammy win tied to Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl” (Best Music Video at the 2021 Grammys).

“Jogodo” hitting 10 million Spotify streams in less than a week is a clean marker of how far Afrobeats’ digital demand has grown—and how quickly Nigerian hits can now scale on global platforms when the audience locks in immediately.
