2025 GRAMMY Changes: What’s New Before Nominations

The 2025 GRAMMY Awards are coming up, and there are big changes to the categories this year. These updates were announced before the nomination event on Friday, November 8, 2024. The Recording Academy has changed the award categories to better match the music industry today and include more types of music.

Everyone could watch the announcement live on live.GRAMMY.com, where they revealed who might win this year’s top music awards. One of the biggest changes is a new category called “Best Dance Pop Recording,” updating from the old Best Pop Dance Recording. They also moved the Best Remixed Recording category to fit better with Pop & Dance/Electronic music.

Harvey Mason Jr., the CEO of the Recording Academy, said these changes are to keep up with how music is always changing and help music creators feel supported. He reminded those who vote for the Grammys that their choices help shape the future of music.

The nomination event is just the start of the excitement, leading up to the big night of the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The show will be live on TV, celebrating a year of great music.

The Academy also made it easier for songwriters to get nominated by needing fewer songs, which lets more people have a chance to win.
