AFC Invests in Dangote Refinery’s $2.5 Billion Share Placement

Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) has invested in the $2.5 billion private share placement of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

The investment follows the successful recovery of a $300 million loan that the corporation had previously extended to help develop the industrial complex.

This move extends the existing financing relationship between the AFC and the refinery, transitioning the partnership from a debt-based arrangement to an equity stake in the facility.

The $2.5 billion share placement is a strategic move by the refinery to optimize its capital structure. By securing investment through this placement, the refinery continues to solidify its financial backing for ongoing operations.

The decision by AFC to reinvest after recovering its initial loan indicates sustained confidence in the project’s ability to generate returns and its strategic importance to the Nigerian energy landscape.
