Baay Agro Redeems Its Commitment to Empower Smallholder Farmers in Nigeria

In a resounding affirmation of its mission to empower rural farmers and promote sustainable agriculture, Baay Agro successfully concluded a high-impact summit aimed at enhancing the capacity of
smallholder farmers.

The event, which took place at Ife Odan, Osun State, drew hundreds of participants, including farmers, agricultural experts, and key stakeholders in the agribusiness sector.

The summit, themed “Empowering Rural Farmers: Unlocking Market Access, Financial Opportunities,
and Women’s Role in Agriculture,” featured a series of insightful sessions designed to equip smallholder
farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to transform their farming practices into sustainable
agribusinesses.

Attendees participated in keynote sessions, panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitions
that covered critical topics such as farm input financing, climate-smart agricultural practices, and market
access strategies.

This event marks the fourth in a series of successful summits organised by Baay Agro, each held in
different locations across Nigeria. These summits have collectively reached thousands of farmers,
providing them with the skills and resources needed to thrive in the agricultural sector.

A major highlight of the summit was the focus on female inclusivity in agriculture. Baay Agro,
recognising the pivotal role that women play in the agricultural value chain, dedicated specific sessions
to address the unique challenges faced by women farmers.

These sessions provided practical advice on accessing financial services, leveraging technology for improved productivity, and connecting with markets beyond their communities.

Baay Agro’s commitment to capacity building was further demonstrated through the launch of new
initiatives aimed at supporting smallholder farmers. Among these initiatives is the development of a state
of-the-art storage facility that will help farmers preserve their produce, reduce post-harvest losses, and
access better market prices. This facility is expected to be a game-changer for farmers in the region, enabling them to maximise the value of their hard work.

One of the attending farmers, Afolabi Oluwabamise, shared his experience: “Before attending Baay
Agro’s summit, I struggled to find markets for my produce and often faced significant losses. But through
the knowledge and connections I’ve gained here, I now feel empowered to take my farming to the next
level. The introduction of the storage facility is a blessing, as it will help us preserve our harvest and get
better prices.”

Speaking at the event, Mr Segun Adegoke, CEO of Baay Agro, emphasised the company’s dedication to
transforming agriculture in Nigeria and beyond:

“At Baay Agro, we believe that smallholder farmers are the backbone of our food system. By providing them with the necessary resources and knowledge, we are not just improving their livelihoods but also contributing to the overall food security of our nation.”

As Baay Agro continues to expand its initiatives, the company remains steadfast in its mission to empower
smallholder farmers, promote gender equality in agriculture, and ensure a sustainable future for Nigeria’s
agricultural sector. The success of this recent summit is a testament to Baay Agro’s unwavering
commitment to these goals.
