Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Ltd Appoints Birju Sanghrajka and Nivedita Sharma to its Board

The Board of Directors of Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Ltd has announced the appointment of Mr Birju Sanghrajka as an Executive Director effective from 22 July 2021. The Board also announced the appointment of Mrs Nivedita Sharma as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 22 July 2021.

About Birju Sanghrajka

A statement made available by the company said Birju started his career with Standard Chartered in Kenya in 1999. Over the last 22 years, he has worked in corporate banking, corporate finance and transaction banking in Kenya, the United Kingdom, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

Birju currently leads the Bank’s Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking Client Coverage business in Kenya and across East Africa which covers global subsidiaries, local corporates, fi nancial institutions, public sector and development organizations. His focus is on delivering the Bank’s network, exceptional service delivery
and deep product expertise to this set of clients as well as continuing to instill the highest level of risk discipline.

Birju holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Business Economics and Finance from Loughborough University, United
Kingdom.

About Nivedita Sharma

Nivi is an expert of technology, innovation and education in emerging markets. She is currently the Chief
Operating Offi cer of BRCK, a connectivity company that provides free public WiFi called “Moja WiFi”. Nivi has
dedicated her career to digital access for children, youth and adults. She co-founded eLimu, the fi rst company
to digitize the Kenyan Primary School curriculum content for revision and literacy. Nivi is driven by the potential
impact the internet can have on the economic and social development of those who are currently not connected.

Nivi has served as an expert coach for the UK-Kenya Tech HUB Business Leaders Program and as a mentor
at AkiraChix. She currently serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Software Technologies Limited
and is a member of the Advisory Board of Jaza Energy. Nivi also supports and advises early stage founders in a
variety of industries on scale and acceleration.

Nivi holds a B.A. (Hons) degree in Economics from Ithaca College, New York, USA and is a 2014 Acumen East
Africa fellow.
