Brad Pitt’s F1 Movie Hits ₦133.9 Million in Nigerian Box Office

Brad Pitt’s latest film F1 is turning heads in Nigerian cinemas and fast. After just three weeks on the big screen, the high-speed racing drama has already made ₦133.9 million, making it one of the biggest Hollywood hits in Nigeria this year.

The movie, which was released on June 27 and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, had a strong start with ₦56.5 million in its opening weekend alone.

Despite tough competition from popular Nollywood titles like My Mother Is a Witch and Mission Impossible 8, F1 has stayed steady in Nigerian theatres.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick, F1 stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula 1 driver who comes back to the sport to mentor a young racer and help bring life back to a struggling team.

The movie also features Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, and Javier Bardem, with real-life F1 champion Lewis Hamilton serving as co-producer. This mix of fiction and real racing

action gives the film a gritty and exciting edge that’s pulling people into cinemas.

F1 isn’t just doing well in Nigeria. Globally, the film has made over $463 million, about $155 million in the US and $307 million from other countries. Much of that success is thanks to scenes filmed during actual Grand Prix events and the film’s attention to realism, including shots of Pitt and Idris fully suited up in race gear.

In Nigeria, the film’s success shows that more local audiences are open to big Hollywood productions, especially when they offer both heart and spectacle. Whether you’re a Formula 1 fan or just a Brad Pitt lover, F1 seems to have something for everyone.
