Davido Announces White Wedding with Chioma Set for August in Miami

Nigerian singer Davido has confirmed that he will hold a white wedding with his wife, Chioma, this August in Miami.

The announcement was made during his recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, a popular U.S. radio show.

While reflecting on the upcoming ceremony, Davido opened up about the cultural differences between Nigerian and American marriages.

He explained how in Nigeria, family dynamics are deeply woven into the fabric of marital relationships.

“In some Nigerian homes, a lot of men grow up very close to their mothers—so much so that even after getting married, the mother still lives with them and takes their side in everything,” he said.

Davido and Chioma previously held a grand traditional wedding in Nigeria, which drew national attention and felt, in his words, “like a carnival.”

“It was like a holiday in Nigeria. The whole world stood still,” he recalled. “This white wedding in Miami is going to be a continuation of that celebration.”

The 32-year-old singer, born in Atlanta and a Grammy nominee, said the August ceremony will be more personal, following years of public scrutiny over his relationship with Chioma.

“Our relationship has been out there for a long time, especially after I released that song about her,” he said, referencing his 2018 hit “Assurance.”

“We’ve been through a lot—even losing our child. I also made many mistakes. So now, it feels like a full circle moment. Everyone wants to see her get what she truly deserves.”

Davido praised Chioma for maintaining her privacy, despite the spotlight that follows their relationship.

“You’ll never see her in an interview complaining or going on social media to talk about us,” he said. “She doesn’t do any of that, and I really respect her for it—because she could, but she doesn’t.”

He also noted that while no couple is perfect, their journey has been one of growth and commitment.

“I’d be lying if I said we’re perfect. Nobody is,” Davido added with a smile.
