How GovGuideNigeria Could Help Nigerians Access Services

Nigeria’s Federal Government has launched GovGuideNigeria, an artificial intelligence-powered platform designed to make government information and public services easier for citizens to access.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, announced the launch on Thursday in a statement shared on his X handle.

According to the minister, the platform is part of the government’s broader effort to use technology to improve public service delivery, reduce information barriers, and make government services more accessible to Nigerians across the country.

A Platform Built for Easier Access

GovGuideNigeria is available on WhatsApp and on the web, making it easier for citizens to use the platform without requiring advanced digital skills.

The service is also available in English, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, a move the government says will help reach more Nigerians across different regions and language groups.

Tijani said the platform gives users access to information from more than 35 federal ministries and over 60 government agencies.

He explained that GovGuideNigeria was created to close the gap between citizens and government institutions, especially for underserved communities and people who often struggle to find reliable public information.

“Today, we launched GovGuideNigeria, an AI-powered platform designed to make access to government information simpler, faster, and more inclusive for every Nigerian,” Tijani said.

He added that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that artificial intelligence delivers practical benefits to citizens, not just policy promises.

Built Through Public and Private Collaboration

The minister said GovGuideNigeria was developed in partnership with the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Meta, and Publica.

He described the collaboration as an example of how government agencies, private companies and local innovators can work together to solve public sector challenges.

“I appreciate the strong collaboration between NCAIR, Meta, and Publica in bringing this important initiative to life,” Tijani stated.

He also encouraged Nigerians to use the platform to access government-related information and services more conveniently.

Part of Nigeria’s Wider AI Push

The launch of GovGuideNigeria comes as the Federal Government deepens its focus on artificial intelligence, digital inclusion and technology-driven reforms in public institutions.

Two years ago, the Ministry launched N-ATLAS, Nigeria’s first multilingual large language model. The project was designed to help map and digitise Nigeria’s linguistic diversity while building datasets that can support inclusive AI solutions.

N-ATLAS was developed through a partnership involving Nigerian AI company Awarritech, DataDotOrg, the National Information Technology Development Agency, and the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

The government has also recently said it is working with innovators, startups and industry stakeholders to co-create an AI governance framework that will support responsible and inclusive growth of the technology.

Why It Matters

Accessing government information in Nigeria can often be slow, confusing and difficult, especially for citizens who do not know which agency handles a particular service.

GovGuideNigeria is expected to reduce that friction by using AI to guide citizens toward the right information faster.

For the government, the platform also signals a shift toward more citizen-focused digital services. For Nigerians, it could make it easier to understand government processes, locate public services and engage with federal institutions without unnecessary delays.
