Kenyan Farmers Deny Poisoning 15 Elephants in Amboseli

Farmers bordering Kenya’s Amboseli National Park have denied allegations that they used cyanide to kill 15 elephants.

The denial comes after wildlife authorities reported the death of the 15 animals from suspected poisoning. Preliminary tests conducted by the authorities detected the presence of cyanide in the elephants, leading to suspicions of foul play by local agriculturalists.

While the initial findings point to the toxin, the farmers have rejected the claims that they were responsible for the mass death of the wildlife.

Wildlife authorities confirmed that investigations are still ongoing. Officials are working to determine the exact source of the cyanide and the concentration levels present in the carcasses to establish how the animals were exposed to the poison.

The investigation remains active as authorities seek to reconcile the preliminary test results with the denials from the farming community.
